    Boarding and transporting mobility aids

After notifying the driver of your intention to use the service, and once the vehicle is at a complete stop, please inform them if you require any assistance to board.

As a general rule, drivers are not allowed to leave the driver’s seat, but they can activate all the vehicle’s technical means to facilitate your entry:

    • If you have any difficulties boarding, the driver will tilt the vehicle or even activate the wheelchair ramp.
    • They can provide you with directions to the reserved seating and information about the stop you wish to get off at, if you so wish.
    • They will ensure that all mobility aids are correctly positioned on the bus, without obstructing the passage of other passengers or posing a risk to them during the journey.

In the case of passengers in wheelchairs, they should prepare to board through the central door, as this is where the access ramp is located. These doors have a ramp/platform request button that notifies the driver of your intention to enter the bus in your wheelchair.

The driver will activate the automatic access ramp/platform and, once it is fully in place (when the flashing lights and sounds stop), you will be able to use it to enter the vehicle.

In many of our vehicles we also have manual ramps, as an additional safety measure to guarantee you can access the bus should the automatic ramp break down. Once inside the vehicle, go to the space for PRM in wheelchairs and secure your wheelchair accordingly. Here you will find more detailed information.

To alight the bus, give sufficient warning before reaching the stop by pressing the ramp/platform request button, and wait again until the ramp is fully in place before disembarking.

    Transporting mobility aids

In addition, if you are carrying additional mobility aids or any other luggage, make sure they are placed in such a way so that they do not obstruct passage or pose a risk to other passengers. If necessary, the driver will give you instructions on how to position them correctly.

In all cases, compliance with local/municipal/regional regulations or ordinances regarding these mobility aids will take precedence. Please consult the specific regulations applicable to the service before your journey.

    Requiring a companion while travelling

For safety reasons, as a general rule, you must travel with a companion over 16 years of age if you need assistance to:

    • Communicate or understand instructions from staff regarding safety.
    • Switch from a wheelchair/scooter to a seat.
    • Go up or down steps.

In any case, the companion must have the corresponding ticket and remain with the passenger they are assisting for the entirety of the journey.
